Mary Ann was the epitome of kindness and generosity. She was our friend, colleague, and mentor -- and a shining example of selflessness and service to others. We will miss her. If you wish to donate to the Arlington Partnership for Children, Youth, and Families Foundation in memory of Mary Ann to continue her vision for Arlington – Imagine a community where all young people are valued and their voices heard -- please see below. 100% of all donations will be used to support the programs, projects, special events and other activities that Mary Ann dedicated her time and expertise to over so many years.

Thanks to the generosity of the donors below, the Foundation was able to provide the following funding:

  • Westover Pre-School - Funds will be used to create two new outdoor learning spaces. One will enable students to dig, discover and create, using gross and fine motor skills. There will be an "Excavation Station," "Growing Garden," and "Learning Garden." The other space will have stumps and planks for students to sit, stand, jump, and balance, using big muscles to build and minds to create a different climbing structure each day. The overall area will be dedicated to Mary Ann and will feature a bench and a plaque with her email tagline: "Imagine a community where all children are valued and their voices heard."

  • Offender Aid and Restoration (OAR) - For many years, Mary Ann conducted parenting classes In the jail. She believed passionately in OAR's mission and overall work. The Foundation's donation will support a number of on-going/new projects and initiatives for both those serving time in jail and/or who are re-entering society.

  • Center for Youth and Advocacy - to support the launch of the Center's Promoting Empathy through Equitable Resolution (PEER) Program - PEER was created to empower youth to resolve disputes in a peer to peer setting with support from trained restorative practice professionals. It's goals include holding young people who commit harm accountable for their actions without exposing them to the risks of a criminal record; providing those who were harmed an opportunity to be actively involved in resolving their case; and ultimately developing leaders who will have increased confidence, skills, knowledge, and empathy to create a more equitable and just justice system.
